What is Oral Thrush?

Oral thrush is a fungus that infects the mouth and throat. It is caused by a yeast called Candida, and while it is normally harmless, it can cause some discomfort and soreness in the mouth.

Oral thrush is most common in babies and older people who wear dentures. You are also more likely to develop oral thrush if you have been taking a course of antibiotics either as short term use or long term use. The antibiotics can often interrupt the balance of bacteria on the tongue which results in opportunistic infections. Use of steroid inhalers to treat asthma can also cause oral thrush, good oral hygiene and good inhaler technique can often prevent this from occurring. Other patients that are immunocompromised  or are undergoing chemotherapy may also experience symptoms of oral thrush.

Daktarin Sugar Free 2% Oral Gel can help if you are experiencing these symptoms and have been diagnosed with thrush.

How does Daktarin Sugar Free 2% Oral Gel work?

Daktarin Oral Gel is an antifungal medication that is used to treat fungi and yeast infections. It accomplishes this by interfering with their cell membranes. This prevents the fungus from protecting itself, preventing it from growing and eventually killing it, making Daktarin Oral Gel a potent antifungal gel. Due to the effective mechanism of action, Daktarin oral gel clears up the unwanted candida infection leaving your mouth feeling soothed and comfortable.

Daktarin Sugar Free 2% Oral Gel should be kept in your mouth for as long as possible before swallowing for maximum benefit.
