Ovex Suspension Banana Flavored 30ml
Ovex mebendazole solution provides 6 single doses of treatment for threadworms, coming in a palatable banana flavor to help ease the administration of the medication to younger children this treatment option is great for the entire family. Mebendazole works by stopping the worms from absorbing the sugars they need to survive in the digestive tract, without these sugars the threadworms will die. A single dose of mebendazole will kill threadworms, however some of the eggs may survive and a second dose may be required after 2 weeks to prevent reinfection
Ovex banana flavored suspension is suitable for adults and children above the age of 2.
How To Take Ovex Suspension?
This treatment is a single dose per person. Adults and children over 2 years of age can take one 5 ml dose only. The suspension is banana flavored and should be swallowed straight after administration. Ovex mebendazole suspension is not recommended for children under 2 years of age. After taking the medication make sure to shower to get rid of the worm eggs including thoroughly cleaning under your nails and changing bed sheets and clothing if possible to help minimize the likelihood of reinfection
Precautions
Do not use this if any of the following apply to you:
If you are taking the medicine Metronidazole
If you are taking the medicine Cimetidine
If you have noticed bleeding during your bowel movement
If you have diarrhea
Make sure to consult your doctor for advice before taking any medicine.
Warning
A single dose of this medicine will kill threadworms. However, it may not destroy their eggs, which can cause reinfection and also infect other people. It is therefore strongly recommended that all members of the family (except pregnant or breastfeeding women and children under two) are treated at the same time and that precautions are taken to prevent re-infection.
In case of re-infection, a second dose can be taken after two weeks.
Seek advice before using if you are breastfeeding, pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or suffer from allergies.
Side Effects of Taking Mebendazole include:
Stomach pain
bloating/ wind
Diarrhea
Blisters on the skin mouth eyes and genitals
Yellow skin or the whites of your eyes turn yellow
