Cystocalm has been especially formulated for women who suffer from cystitis, a urinary tract infection (UTI) affecting the bladder. With this 2 day treatment, Cystocalm focuses on relieving the symptoms that come along with cystitis such as pain, discomfort, or a stinging sensation when urinating.

What is Cystitis?

Cystitis is a urinary tract infection (UTI) that causes inflammation of the bladder. This is found most often in women.

Signs and symptoms include:

  • Pain or burning sensation when urinating

  • The urge to urinate more often than normal

  • Urine that may be cloudy, dark or smelly

  • Pain in your lower stomach

This usually occurs as bacteria outside the body go in the urinary tract through the urethra and start to accumulate. Cystitis is not as common in men as they have a longer urethra and so bacteria can be more effectively flushed out. If a man feels he may have cystitis they must refer to the GP and avoid self medication. There are other factors that cause cystitis for which Cystocalm may not be appropriate

  • Interstitial cystitis: this is also known as painful bladder syndrome and the causes remain uncertain. This is mostly diagnosed in women and can be difficult to treat.

  • Chemical cystitis: Certain individuals may be especially sensitive to chemicals in several products, as a result this can cause a allergic like reaction in the bladder, thus causing inflammation

  • Drug-induced cystitis: Particular medication such as chemotherapy drugs, can cause inflammation of the bladder, as the components of the drugs dissolving in your body leave the body.

  • Foreign-body cystitis: Continued use of a catheter can incline you to bacterial infections and tissue damage, both causing inflammation

Therefore, it is important to make sure you find the right treatment as you may need short or long additional treatment, depending on the severity and origin of your symptoms.

What is Cystocalm?

Cystocalm sachets is a treatment that is aimed to reduce symptoms of cystitis or a UTI in women. Cystocalm has been formulated with an active ingredient known as sodium citrate, which specifically helps to make your urine less acidic. When the acidity of your urine is lowered, symptoms from cystitis are reduced, ensuring you do not feel the same level of pain, stinging or burning sensation. It also in turn, produces a harsher environment for bacteria and prevents them from thriving. Cystcocalm has a cranberry flavour that can be mixed into a tasteful drink to alleviate your discomfort with a 2 day treatment.
